SPANISH GUITAR, Manuel González

“A cultural heritage of Barcelona”

Born in Barcelona, Manuel González has dedicated his life to the Spanish guitar, developing his unique style under the supervision of friends and masters like José Tomás and Eduardo Sainz de la Maza, the grammy-winner David Russell and the Cuban maestro Manuel Barrueco.
His interpretations are considered a unique experience, and some of them, such as the two performances at the United Nations headquarters in New York, were praised by newspapers like The New York Times, El País and the magazine Royal Classics, receiving excellent critics.
Among his legacies, Manuel González was one of the founders of the Luthier school, in Barcelona, where, after decades of activities, has taught generations of musicians. He also had the honor of being the first guitar soloist in 50 years to play at the Palau de la Música Catalana, later being awarded with the prize “Generalitat of Catalunya”.

SPANISH GUITAR, Xavier Coll

“From Mudarra to Dyens: the great masters of the Spanish guitar”

The awarded maestro Xavier Coll was born in Barcelona, where he also took his first guitar lessons and where he was, later, graduated at the superior conservatory of music. He has studied ancient instruments like the theorbo, the vihuela and the baroque guitar under the tutelage of Rolf Lislevand, Hopkinson Smith y Jordi Savall.
He has also received a wide number of prizes and has performed in Europe, United States, South America, Central America, and Asia. Xavier Coll has collaborated with orchestras such as the Orquestra Nacional d’Andorra and the Le Concert des Nations, the latter directed by Savall, who he also worked with at the DVD of the opera L’Orfeo de Monteverdi, produced for the BBC.
He is currently professor of chamber music at the Superior School of Music of Catalonia and offers his unique recitals of Spanish guitar, interpreting from authors such as Alonso Mudarra to contemporary maestros like Roland Dyens, at Maestros de la Guitarra, festival where he also performs as one of the members of the formations Barcelona 4 Guitars and Barcelona Guitar Trio.

SPANISH GUITAR, Luis Robisco

“Flamenco-fusion and the great classics of the Spanish guitar”

A constant search for the sound and an uncommon artistry has made of Luis Robisco one of the few guitarists in the world able to shine from the pop music to the jazz, and from the Spanish to the flamenco guitar. Born in the surroundings of Barcelona, Luis Robisco studied with the most prestigious classical and flamenco guitar maestros, being awarded first prizes and honorable mentions in national and international contests. Also a member of Barcelona Guitar Trio, his recitals at the church of Santa María del Pi, in Barcelona, are a travel from the purest traditional Spanish music up to his own compositions of flamenco-fusion.
