About the Concert
초대 예술감독 및 상임 지휘자 롱 유(Long Yu)를 필두로 하여 중국을 대표하는 관현악단으로 자리잡은 차이나 필하모닉(China Philharmonic Orchestra)이 한국을
찾는다. 2000년 오케스트라 창단 때부터 세계 정상급 아티스트들과 긴밀한 관계를 맺어온 차이나 필하모닉은 2008 베이징 올림픽 기념 전세계 투어, 교황 베네딕토 16세를 위한 음악회, 한ㆍ중 수교 15주년
기념 공연 등 다양한 국제 행사에 참여하며 차이나 필하모닉만의 ‘음악 외교’를 실천하고 있다.
이번 내한공연에서는 차이나 필하모닉의 수석 지휘자인
샤 샤오탕(Xia Xiaotang)이
지휘봉을 잡을 예정으로, 중국의 국민 작곡가 첸 치강(Qigang Chen)의 바이올린 협주곡 ‘고통의 기쁨’이 바이올리니스트 리우 루이(Liu Rui)의
연주로 한국 초연된다. 인기 바이올리니스트 막심 벤게로프가 세계 초연하며 처음 주목을 받았고, 이후 2018 상하이 아이작 스턴 국제 콩쿠르 결선곡으로 지정되어
또 한 차례 이목을 끈 작품이다. 이외에도 베를리오즈의 로마의 사육제 서곡 및 베토벤의 마스터피스
교향곡 5번이 연주되어 다양한 색깔을 가진 중국 오케스트라의 저력을 확인해 볼 수 있는 무대가
될 것이다..

차이나 필하모닉(China
Philharmonic Orchestra, 이하 CPO)은 2000년 5월 베이징에서 설립된 이후 지난 18년 동안 국내외에서 많은 이들의 관심 속에서 중국 문화 재생과 경제 활성화의 무한한 잠재력을 보여주는 역할을
담당하며 세계적으로 인정받는 단체로 거듭났다. CPO는 중국 방송교향악단을 기반으로 설립되어 국가 행정부의
라디오, 영화, TV에서 관리하고 있는 단체이다. 중국에서 가장 젊고 역동적인 오케스트라 중 하나로, 중국 내에서도
많은 오케스트라들이 롤 모델로 삼고 있으며 뛰어난 전문성을 자랑하고 있다. 오프닝 콘서트는 2000년 12월 16일
예술감독 겸 상임 지휘자로 재직 중인 롱 유(Long Yu)가 지휘했다.
지난 18년 동안 CPO는 사실상 중국 다른 곳에서는 찾아볼 수 없는 수많은 초연을 선보였고 광범위한 예술적 분야에서 다양한 시도를
통해 자신만의 스타일을 구축해나갔다. 2001년 10월 21일, CPO 의뢰에 의해 작곡된 필립 글래스의 첼로 협주곡은 베이징
보리극장에서 세계 초연되었고, 이는 중국 오케스트라가 외국 작곡가에게 의뢰한 최초 사례이다.
CPO는 중국 음악을 전
세계적으로 널리 알리는데 주도적인 역할을 하고 있으며, 2001년 타이베이, 타이중, 신주, 가오슝
투어, 2002년 북미와 남미 투어, 2005년 유럽과 미국 22개 도시에서 성공적인 투어를 선보이는 등 세계 곳곳에서 활발한 투어 연주를 이어나가고 있다.
지휘 | 샤 샤오탕
샤 샤오탕은 중국 중앙음악대학교에서 위 펑 교수를 사사하며 지휘를 공부했다. 2006년 제2회 전국 지휘 대회에서 1등을 차지하며 실력을 인정받은 그는 최근 차이나 필하모닉의 수석 지휘자, 차이나
유스 심포니의 상임 지휘자, 그리고 중앙음악대학 지휘과 교수로 임명되었다. 샤 샤오탕은 광저우 심포니, 심천 심포니, 중앙가극원, 베이징 심포니, 중국
국립 교향악단, 상하이 심포니, 항저우 필하모닉, 샌프란시스코 바로크 오케스트라 등 수많은 오케스트라의 객원 지휘자로 참여했으며, 세계 유수의 음악가 및 작곡가들과 함께 작업하며 뜨거운 찬사를 받고 있다.
바이올린 | 리우 루이
바이올리니스트 리우
루이는 1983년 중국 쓰촨성의 청두에서 태어나 4세의 어린
나이에 아버지로부터 바이올린을 배우기 시작했으며, 10세의 나이에 중앙음악대학 초등학교에 입학하며 본격적으로
학업을 시작했다. 8년의 초등학교 재학기간, 그리고 중앙음악대학
협력 중학교에서의 재학 기간 동안 리우 루이는 리 샹양 교수와 샤오즈 황 교수를 사사하며 음악 교육의 탄탄한 기본기를 터득하고 풍부한 연주 경험을
쌓았으며, 그 이후 2001년 중앙음악대학에 입학하여 전샨
왕 교수를 사사했다. 학창 시절 그는 다양한 무대 경험을 쌓았을 뿐만 아니라, 해외 교환학생 프로그램에도 적극적으로 참여했다. 2005년 중앙음악대학
졸업 후 차이나 필하모닉의 단원으로 합류했으며, 2014년 오케스트라의 부악장으로 임명되었다.
오케스트라 재임 기간
동안 리우 루이는 국제 투어에 집중적으로 참여했다. 국내외에서 열린 주요 공연에서 멘델스존 바이올린
협주곡의 솔로이스트로서 무대에 올랐을 뿐만 아니라 2016년 해상 실크로드 콘서트 투어에서 차이나 필하모닉
단원으로서의 연주를 겸했다. 오케스트라 연주 외에도 리우 루이는
2008년 올림픽 경기의 테마곡인 “너와 나”를
연주했고, 첸 치강 교수와 유명한 작곡가 겸 감독인 이머우 장과 함께
<산사나무 아래서>와 <진링의 13소녀>와 같은 영화의 배경 음악을 연주하며 동료 음악가들로부터
높은 평가를 받았다.

The China
Philharmonic Orchestra (CPO) was founded in Beijing in May 2000. For the past
18 years CPO has achieved an astonishing leap forward and won wide attention
home and abroad. CPO sets an example for the infinite potential of Chinese
cultural renewal and economic boom, as witnessed by the rest of the world.
China Philharmonic
Orchestra was founded on the basis of China Broadcasting Symphony Orchestra and
administered by the State Administration of Radio, Film and Television. Its
opening concert was held on December 16, 2000 conducted by Artistic Director
and Chief Conductor Long Yu. As one of the youngest and most dynamic symphony
orchestras in China, CPO takes pride in professionalism, a role model to be
followed by its Chinese peers.
In the past eighteen
years CPO has presented numerous premieres that are virtually nowhere to be
found elsewhere in China and forged its own style through extensive artistic
involvement.
On October 21st 2001
Philip Glass’ Cello Concerto, commissioned by CPO, got its world premiere at
Poly Theatre in Beijing. This is the first commissioned work by an oversee
composer from music establishment in China ever.
CPO is the active
and frequent advocate of Chinese music in the global sphere. The orchestra is
involved in a wide range of tours including Taipei, Taichung, Hsinchu and
Kaohsiung in 2001, North and Latin America in 2002, a world tour in 2005
covering 22 cities and many following tours to Europe and the United States of
America.
Conductor | Xia
Xiaotang
Xia Xiaotang was
graduated from the Conducting Department of China’s Central Conservatory of
Music under the guidance of Professor Yu Feng. He has been recently appointed
as Principal Conductor of the China Philharmonic Orchestra, Chief Conductor of
the China Youth Symphony Orchestra and Professor of Conducting Department of
the Central Conservatory of Music. In 2006, he has championed the golden prize
of the second National Conducting Competition. As a guest conductor, he appears
regularly with the Guangzhou Symphony Orchestra, Shenzhen Symphony Orchestra,
China Opera House, Beijing Symphony Orchestra, China National Symphony
Orchestra, Shanghai Symphony Orchestra, Hangzhou Philharmonic Orchestra, as
well as the San Francisco Baroque Orchestra. He has worked with many of the
world’s leading musicians and composers, winning high critical acclaims.
Violin | Liu Rui
Violinist Liu Rui was born on March 3, 1983 in Chengdu, Sichuan
Province. He started learning violin with his father at the age of four. At the
age of ten, he was admitted into the Primary School of Central Conservatory of
Music and started his life of learning music in conservatories. During his
eight-year life in the Primary School and the Middle School affiliated to the
Central Conservatory of Music, Liu Rui has studied under Professor Xiangyang Li
and Professor Xiaozhi Huang successively, which laid solid foundation of music
education and accumulated rich playing experience. In 2001, he was then
admitted into the Central Conservatory of Music and studied under Professor
Zhenshan Wang. During the academic years, he had performed on stage many times
and engaged in exchange programs overseas. In 2005, Liu Rui graduated from the
Central Conservatory of Music and joined the China Philharmonic Orchestra. In
2014, Liu Rui was promoted to the assistant concert master of the China
Philharmonic Orchestra.
During his tenure in the orchestra, Liu Rui joined its international
tours intensively and participated in many major performances at home and
abroad, including playing as soloist in Mendelssohn’s Concerto for Violin and
Orchestra during the China Philharmonic Orchestra's Maritime Silk Road Concert
Tour in 2016. In addition to engagements with the orchestra, Liu Rui also
cooperated with distinguished musicians and participated in many important
performances, including playing the theme song "You and Me" of the
2008 Olympic Games, and cooperated with Professor Qigang Chen, a famous
composer, and the famous director and filmmaker Mr. Yimou Zhang successively,
to play the theme music of the movies such as “Under the Hawthorn Tree” and
“The Flowers of War” and his musicianship is highly regarded.
